What I like about Adele:
1. Her amazing voice. (Hard to imitate.) It is sonorous. Deep and rich.
2. Her voice placement. That’s a skill, even when she sings effortlessly, it’s still a skill. (Channeling 10,000 hours of Malcolm Gladwell!)
3. That she doesn’t kill herself over being not as thin as the others in her industry.
4. Her overall image of strength and character amidst the reality of a broken world.
What I don’t like about Adele:
1. In the “19” album, most of her songs are just too sad and depressing. They’re beautifully sung and full of soul, awesome melody, some have great beat, perfect notes- even the adlibs, but most of them talk about the kinds of love and relationships that one could easily get out of, if only he/she isn’t being too angsty or romantic about it.
I hope, since this generation listens to Adele, that they would admire her for the right things but remember that values are to be learned from those who have a real kind of relationship with them, who knows them personally, has genuine concern for them, and guaranteed soundness of mind.
“Everything is permissible”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive” (1 Corinthians 10:23)
P.S.
I wish she would come up with a happier set of tracks for her next album.
